I'd like to congratulate arts and humanities journals for continuing to flummox the folks at Clarivate by remaining less (quantitatively) rank-able, despite Clarivate's best efforts to put a number on everything, no matter the meaninglessness of the exercise. Stay weird arts and humanities!

During our morning walk I saw this Melolontha (Maikäfer) on the street.
I took him up and brought it to the next patch of grass.
It's the second one I see this year. It's causes a bit mixed feelings. I'm happy that I find them and watch them closely.
But it also makes me sad because when I was a child, I saw them ways more often.

Following ideas of Lawvere and Linton we prove that classical varieties are precisely the exact categories with a varietal generator. This means a strong generator which is abstractly finite and regularly projective. An analogous characterization of varieties of ordered algebras is also presented.
